Start where others stopped
The Atlas is how a permanent team remembers what science has already tried, and begins the next campaign from that record.
Peer-reviewed ideas go unfunded. Funded results go unpublished. Promising projects are cut off midstream. Most of that record is public, and almost none of it is used.
The Atlas sets that work against the challenges that matter. A campaign does not open on a blank page. It opens on what was vetted, what was funded, and what was started and then left behind.
From a thread to a campaign
A stranded thread is not yet a campaign. It becomes one when it matches a live challenge, passes expert review, and can be tested in rigorous simulation using cutting-edge interactive engine technology such as Unreal Engine.
Whatever the campaign finds, including a dead end, is written back. The next effort should not have to walk the same ground.
How the record is kept
Ideas belong to the people who had them. Original investigators are offered a seat on the campaign before the team builds on their work.
The Atlas draws on the public research record, and on what researchers choose to share. Reviews that were never published stay with the people who wrote them unless they decide otherwise.
Every result returns, including what did not work. A failure kept is a finding the next team can use.
